New-ness

I haven't posted in forever! I really need to do more than what i'm going to post. All I'm going to do tonight is show some pictures of my new shoes that I got! (which are amazing!)

There was also a dance yesterday. =) It was my fourth one! They are soooo much fun! So many little things to talk about but I'm really tired and I have to wake up early tomorrow!

Girls Camp

So on June 7th I went to girls camp as a 3rd year. We switched camps this year because they are selling the one we have gone to in the past. It was the hottest week ever!!!! There was a heat advisory all week!!! It was in the high 90's all week and with the humidity (which makes it sooooooo much worse!) the index was in the hundreds. The worst part was that this camp there wasn't even a building to go into or trees for shade! There were no fans, no mess hall (except where the kitchen was but we weren't allowed in there), no trees where we were doing things (there were only trees surrounding the camp), and lots of cicadas.



A good thing though was the pool! It was awesome! It was really big and cold! The day I was there I hadn't brought my suit to camp so I couldn't go swimming but halfway through the swimming period I got so hot sitting on the side of the pool that I didn't care and just decided to jump in with my clothes on! =) It felt sooooooooo good! So I just decided once I had jumped in to swim because there was no point in just standing in the pool with my clothes wet! Yeah, it was fun.

Do you know what its like to sweat for 4 days straight????? I didn't have to though because the first day we were there was REALLY hot and I got really sick that night and had to go home. =( A lot of girls went home because they were either sick or just really hot. But I went back Wednesday night for bishop's night with my dad. Then he brought me home and I went back all day Friday.

Another bad thing was the cicadas. They have their 13 year mass breed thing. So there are TONS of them everywhere!!! They are so gross and stupid!!!! They just fly wherever they feel like flying and land on you and its gross! I probably had about 20 fly into me or land on me in one day. Not including the ones that flew into my mouth and down my shirt. Yeah, those were the worst...

Random Interests

So this post is going to be pretty much a bunch of random pictures and stuff about what I have been doing recently. Since I havn't posted in a while and there are some things I want to say/show you guys!

So the first thing is my black belt. These are some pictures of when I got my belt.

The next random thing is about my birthday which was a really long time ago but i'm going to show some pictures anyway. I had a party with some of my friends but sadly i don't have pictures with my friends. =( But I have pics of before my party when I was setting up! =)

So I was spending like the whole day with my friend Jasmine. If you don't know Jasmine she is the girl who lives next door that I have known since I was 4. She is awesome. I spend alot of time with her. She was helping me set up for a while but then she had to leave to do something in her house. So i recruited other helpers. So in these pictures you will see us all messing around in my room while trying to blow up 50 balloons. =) It was fun.

So the people I recruited after Jasmine left, were Isaac, Mark ( a dude that lives on our street), and Emily ( A girl that lives on our street. aka Mark's sister) This is a pic of them all in one pic so you can see what they all look like. =) I have no idea what they are looking at. I'm thinking you can guess who's who. =)

Last things are:

1) My ipod broke recently because of something stupid I did but i'm trying to get another one.It makes me sad! =( So i'm trying to save up.

2) I went to my first dance last month and it was alot of fun! I didn't really want to go at first but then I just decided i would. It was alot of fun! I'm going to my second one on Friday. I danced with alot of people too if you were wondering. I think it was about 10 or so.

My Blackbelt Testing

So last Tuesday I tested for my blackbelt. I broke my boards!!!! It was really stressful though because a couple days before I tested, I was playing basketball with some dudes on our street and made a really awesome play but landed on my foot weird and it was all swollen and giant. I also busted up my knee too. The foot I landed on was the one I was kicking one of my boards with though so that is what made it hard. It really hurt but i broke them anyway. My ankle is still swollen and it has been more than a week since I hurt it. =P So here are some pictures that my dad took with some of my friends and my istructor.

I know I haven't posted in a REALLY long time but really quickly I wanted to tell you about what i have been doing recently. I have been really busy with school and everything else. Spring Break Started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited that I don't have to go to school. I took 2 tests today. One in math and one in social studies. I got 100% on both of them! I'm so proud of myself. I also got my ipr a little while ago (in progress report) i got all A's and B+'s which is pretty good for never doing it before! So that is what I have been doing and really soon I'll put the pictures of the Nauvoo trip that i went on a long time ago on my blog.

February

So I know I haven't blogged for a long time but i just wanted to do a brief post today. Last week I went to Nauvoo for a YW trip. All of us went to a cabin/lodge thingy and we stayed and overnight and had a ton of fun and then the next morning we went to the temple! I have pictures I will have to post later too! ;)

Right now I'm sick with a temperature of 102 and all that good stuff. This is the first day I haven't gone to school when I was supposed to! So about school...I have a social studies test tomorrow that i am probably going to get a bad grade on because my teacher (Mr. Aulgur) hasn't gotten me a book so I can't study what is on the test!!!!! So i'm kinda nervous about that.
It's a test on Manifest Destiny, the Westward Expantion, the Gold Rush and more. So that's in SS. In english I finished Jane Eyre and now I have to do a 5 page report about different things in the book. Plus, I just finished my 1117 word story. I also just got a new set of vocab words to study. In art we are doing figure drawing and sculpting. In Math I'm doing square roots and stuff like that but i already learned this so it's easy. In science we are doing chemistry. The last class is PE and we just finished our big badminton games. I also on valentines day got 3 candygrams which are chocolate kisses made to look like roses. I GOT 3!!!!! =) :)

So that's what I have been doing. I will post pics of Nauvoo soon.

SNOW!!!!!!!!

So this year we are getting a bunch of snow! About a week ago we got about 10 inches of snow which is alot for around here (well kinda). Now yesterday (Monday) and today and tomorrow we are going to get 18-23 inches!!!!!!!!!!!! Monday I went to school (more on that later) and while i was in 3rd hour they announced that we couldn't go outside to the annex's because it was really slippery. We all thought that it was only raining how could it be slippery but if they said it was why don't we just get to get out of school now! 20 minutes later they said they would be letting school out early at 12:15 (there was alot of yelling then). So when I got off the bus there was a sheet of ice where the water froze. We were sliding a ton! Everything was covered in ice!

But there wasn't any snow yesterday so Isaac, Mark and I were outside having fun.

They say going down this hill is painful because you drop into the park and the end and it's really icey. Mark came out with cuts and Isaac says multiple places on his body hurt. =)

The 1st and 2nd!

Sorry i didn't write on my first day. I just had so much going on! Ok here goes:

1st Day

I was supposed to follow Cari today but she ended up not being in school that day so i followed a girl named Lexie. She took me to her classes that day. So her first class was social studies. I walked in a saw 2 of my friends that i know so I thought it wasn't going to be so bad.

(1st day wasn't that interesting so there isn't much but anyway...)

Then after a few classes we went to lunch. She has A lunch which is the same lunch I have but it starts at 10:30!!!!!! I have to eat lunch at 10:30!!!!!!!! I'm not hungry then and neither is anybody else we all just sit, talk and eat cookies. So after lunch we went to her other classes which I can't remember but I saw alot of people I know. It was all very confusing and loud and there were alot of people but i got through.

So after the first day I got my schedule so here it is:

1st hour: Art

2nd hour: MS Office

3rd hour: Honors English

LUNCH

4ht hour: Math

5th hour: social studies

6th hour: Science

7th hour: PE

So that's my schedule.

2nd Day

Today there was a little more. Today I went to my own classes but Lexie left her classes a little early to come take me to my next class. I went to Art first and met the teacher (Mrs. Wax) and we got started on wathing slides of paintings that a man named Billyo O'donnel painted of Missouri then for the rest of the time we got to do sketches of what we wanted to paint a picture of so I sketched a bridge. But there were certain things we had to incorporate into the picture too. She has a ton of pictures of things in boxes so we can just go through them and look and something we want to sketch.

Then after Art I went to MS Office which is working with computers and PowerPoint stuff and typing. The teacher is Mrs. Curtner. So i just worked on catching up on the typing they had already done so it was pretty easy.

Next i went to Honors English with Mrs. Jones. We listed to the stories that some of the students made for assignments and we have a test on vocabulary words on Monday. These are the words that I have to know: joust, infamy, nepotism, fleece, parry, periphery, entomology, ostracize, capacious, fickle, laconic, harrowing, aptitude, endure, chronic, giddy, gossamer, irascible, cower, queue. I don't really know those words!

Then I have lunch which isn't anything special. Then i go to Math. They are doing something different then what i was doing so it's harder. The teacher is Mr. Bostwick and they are on geometry but i already know something they are going to work on next month =) yea me!!

Next is social studies with Mr. Aulgur. We are learning about Andrew Jackson and the Trail of Tears. I sit next to the stake president's son Jarod who is also 13.

Next is Science with Mrs. Frearson. This is the only class i actually have with Lexie. We are learning chemistry. We worked today with graph stuff and putting things in water and measuring the ml and stuff. We also did a bunch of stuff with blue, yellow and red water and we used the water to make all the colors of the rainbow with them in order and they all have 1o ml of water in them it's pretty cool!

Last is PE with Mrs. Baker. I have PE everyday so I can be awesome and strong and athletic and stuff. =D We didn't really have PE today because they are doing a sound check in the gym so they kicked us out so at least we didn't have to change. We watched a really interesting movie about bones and muscles. Did you know that when you are in a life and death situation your brain sends signals to your body to adjust. Like if you had a really heavy rock on top of you and you were about to fall off a cliff your brain can make the choice on its own to make all the ligaments in your arm move and stuff at once to push it off of you??? A 1200 pound rock!!

So that was my day! =)

Change...again

So for whatever reason my parents have decided to put me in...(pause for effect)...PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!!!! Oh joy I think as I am being told this Friday morning an hour before we are going to leave to meet the 8th grade guidence counselor at West Jr. High. My mom gives this long speech about going to public school and how I will make friends and yada yada but this is all she is really saying: "You are going full time at West on Tuesday. We are leaving in an hour to go to the school."...yeah...

So here is what I know so far:

1. The first day (Tuesday) a girl named Cari is going to take me to her classes and show me where everything is and how to do stuff.
2. The classes I'm taking are: math, social studies, science, honors english, FACS, PE, and art.
3. The second day I will go to my own classes but Cari will leave her classes early to come and get me and take me to my next class. (Thank you Cari!)
4. I know someone in all the lunch hours!!!!

That's about all I know so far. I won't know anything else until Tuesday. Here is what I don't know yet:

1. Where my locker is
2. What hour my classes are in
3. When my lunch is (a, b, or c)
4. I DON'T KNOW CARI!!!!

I will have to post after my first day. Tuesday is a big day for me. I have to be at the school at 7:40. After I get home from school I will have to go to Taekwondo and it's also my papa's birthday!!

Christmas in YW!

I LOVE my YW leaders!!!! They are awesome!!!!! Just something before i get started on the real thing this post is about. This is just one reason why I love my YW leaders. We have problems with girls texting and playing with their phones on Sunday and on Wednesday during mutual. So the leaders noticed this and decorated a shoe box with wrapping paper and it has the words "chatter box" on it. So they explained that the chatter box was for our phones. You put it in the box (it even has a pillow in it so your phone doesn't get scratched =) ) and then you can have it back as soon as the lesson is over. I thought it was pretty smart. Oh and one more thing you should know before I start is that in our YW we have just one presidency for the whole YW so it's not a class presidency it's a whole YW presidency. ( my friend Kristen is the president and my other friend Taylor is the first counselor and I am the second counselor in the presidency)

So back to the thing leading up to the real thing. =)

We (just the YW) are planning a trip to Nauvoo in February and they have made 3 committee's.

1. The food committee. (which is obviously in charge of what we eat)


2. The itinerary committee. (which is in charge of what we do)


3. The pictures committee. (the pictures are for a slideshow we are making)

The leaders have asked us to sign up for at least one committee. So I signed up for the food committee. So after BYC (Bishop's Youth Committee in case you didn't know) today I went into another meeting with the YW president and Kristen and they both dragged me into being on the itinerary committee as well as the food committee. So now i am on 2 committee's i thought but nooo they had to ask me to be on the pictures committee too because they didn't have enough people so now i'm on all the committee's and it's really hard to keep track of them all!!!!

So that wasn't even why I have this post but i just thought of those things while i was sitting here but it goes nicely with what i am going to say now! This year in YW we have been talking alot about temples and how we should want to go there someday and everything else there is to talk about temples. So today in YW we got our Christmas present and this is what it was:

"Christmas"

So my parents have decided to do Christmas on December 6th for St. Nicks day and i find myself saying...Half the people in the world don't even know what that is!!! Why are we celebrating it!!!!! But we did/are and since i already got my Christmas present really (my now awesome room) i had 3 presents to open today on "Christmas".

YEAH!!!

We have a new YW in the ward!!! Her name is Annie and she came to our ward for the second time on Sunday! (The first time was when we were in the OBX) The best thing is that she lives 6 houses down from us!!!!!! (Yes I counted =) )

She came to SED last night and we took her home. (our car is now known as the bus because we take alot of people) We get along really well because we were in the car for a really long time while my brother and my dad did something in somebody elses house. (also someone we took home) She says she is always friends with the bishops daughter wherever she moves because she was in Northern Missouri because thats where she moved from and other places and now she is here to!!! =)

The sad thing is that she is only renting the house because her dad is the main electrician for the new high school we are getting.


PS: Last night at SED we talked about the new handbook and there is a rule where we can't hug anymore even with other YW as friends! Not just in the church building but anywhere! It's a crime if I can't hug my friends!!!!!!!!! *SAD* =(

And yet I find myself smiling!

So recently we found out that my tae kwon do instructor is moving to Seattle. Yes I know this is very sad because I have had him the whole time I've been in tae kwon do and I'm close to getting my black belt and he has to leave!!!! He's really nice and he's a really good instructor.

He's leaving on the 12th (which is a Friday but I usually only go on Tuesday and Thursday)

He is leaving the building to 2 instructors whose names are: Mr. Walker (whose only 17) and Mr. Knopke (whose only 23). Mr. Walker will be over the recommended black belts and black belts. So I will have Mr. Walker and the colored belts get Mr. Knopke (the new guy). Mr. Walker has already been here for a couple of years so I know him pretty well.

A Midterm

Tuesday was karate testing and it was my first time doing a midterm which is in between a recommended black belt and a real black belt. A recommended black belt is half red half black and you have to test 3 times for 3 black stripes you get put on the belt.

The 4th time you test is for your black belt and that's where you have to break boards and stuff like that. Recommended is training to break the boards and stuff like that. I just got my first stripe put on.

They have a point system for midterms which is how they decide if you pass is if you have enough points from when the judges were watching at testing. Its really stressful because they judge your points on:

1. If you have good stances
2. If you yelled in the correct places (or if you yelled at all)
3. How loud you are
4. How snappy your form was
5. If you were paying attention to where your target was
6. And everything else

To get the most points you have to do everything correctly on all 5 forms you have to do. Perfect points would be 270 points. They showed us our points when we went to get our belts and I got a 250. And since they take off points in tens that means I only did 2 things incorrectly!

I think that's pretty good for my first time doing a midterm. I'm happy. =)

My weird-but-cool poem

For writing on Monday I had to write a limerick. A limerick is a poem that has 5 lines to it and the first 1st,2nd and 5th lines rhyme while the 3rd and 4th lines are different from the others but they also rhyme. I think its kinda dorky but my mom said to post it anyway.

So here goes:

The outer banks was so much fun

Out on the beach where we watched crabs run

We say it rain a bunch

We went out to eat for lunch

Too bad there was no sun

Don't laugh I know it sounds weird but its harder than it sounds!

Honesty

Last Sunday in Young Women we had a lesson on honesty. The YW president taught the lesson. I needed to add that because:


1- I really love my current YW president. I have had 3 since i joined.

2- I love her even more because she is bringing me a king size Heath Bar on Wednes day because I memorized the 12 apostles.

3-And more.

Here are some quotes and things that I thought were interesting:

Bamber

About 2 years ago my homeschool friend Amber (aka Bamber) moved to Washington. Sadness!!!

But last week she bought her own plane ticket to come out to Columbia for a little while! Excited!

So I got to go see her at Brianna house. (another one of my homeschool friends. Because we all

know i'm so very popular. *smiles*)

My sewing experience

Lately for young women we have been working on a project we do every year for our personal progress. It's one of those ten hour projects that have to be thought through alot and the one we do every year is a fun one because the leaders think of it and we (the young women) don't have to!!!!!! So this year we did sewing. To make this 10 hours we are sewing two things we are sewing a bag and a skirt. I recently finished my bag and am almost done with my skirt. The bag is just so cute I thought I had to show you.

So here it is. Pictures can't even do it justice.

They are so much better in person.

It's even reversible!!!!!!!!

I take this everywhere now it is my new favorite thing and my parents are getting our sewing machine fixed so now we will have a working sewing machine that I can use to make more! If anyone wants one just tell me. :) ;)
